Maiden’s Hope 2020 Recap
2020 – Wow! What a crazy year! Things have been as topsy turvy in the Philippines this past year as they have been in the United States. It’s wonderful to know that God is still in control and has not been surprised by any of it.
Our girls finished their previous school year strong with many receiving awards for achievements and attendance. As the virus began to really take hold, our Maidens were no longer allowed to attend school in person. This presented quite a challenge since at that time we had only one computer for 15 girls to share and every grade level represented. We were blessed with donations that have allowed us to add 2 additional computers, 3 tablets and headphones. Our biggest blessing however was our new teacher, Iva, who is a certified teacher and has been doing an incredible job keeping all the girls up to date on their studies. She comes to the house daily to work with the girls and is a Godly example of a young Christian women. As you can see from the photos below, we are utilizing every square inch of space in our classroom!
More Space
We were excited to find out in December that one of the other remaining units in our building would be coming available. After much prayer and consideration, we decided to move ahead with acquiring the lease on this additional unit. This has allowed us to add another girl to our program, bringing us up to 16 and to spread out more, providing everyone with some much needed breathing room!
2020 Fundraisers
Many of our plans for 2020 had to be changed due to the virus, however, we were blessed to be able to hold our annual Silent Auction/Potato Dinner in February and our 1st Annual Golf Outing in June. Both events were very well supported and we are so thankful for the blessings our sponsors have provided both at these events and throughout the year. Your gifts made it possible for us to continue the Maiden’s Hope program.
Prayer Requests
Please continue to pray for the Maiden’s Hope girls, their teacher, Iva, and our house mom, Nelia, along with Pastor William who oversees our program there in the Philippines. It is not an easy task to “raise” a family of 16 girls! Pray for Godly wisdom and guidance as we continue to follow God’s leadership in the Maiden’s Hope program.
Please also pray for the approval of our application for Maiden’s Hope to become a registered 501(c)3 organization. We have greatly appreciated the support of Idaho City Christian Center allowing us to be a part of their organization but as we have grown, it is time for us to become our own entity. We have begun the application process and are praying the approval process will move along swiftly.
Thank you for your participation in Maiden’s Hope and the blessings you provide to these young ladies!
