ABOUT MAIDEN'S HOPE

EYES OPENED

On my first trip to the Philippines, God touched my heart in many ways but the one that I kept coming back to was the overwhelming feeling of hopelessness expressed by many of the teens in the villages. So many of these teenagers have never been to school and do not know the Lord. Without a high school certificate, they will not be able to work and will likely become involved with drugs and prostitution. They have no hope for their future in this life or the next. The teens we worked with at the church were night and day different. They are leaders in the church, strong in their faith and committed to serving the Lord.

As I prayed about this and turned it over and over in my head I kept coming back to the same things that seem so basic; a Christian home and education are the way to provide the hope that is needed. These basics that we take for granted here are unobtainable for these young people through no fault of their own.

After praying about this for over a year and despite feeling completely overwhelmed at the idea of how to meet the needs of these young people, God has continued to put this on my heart. With the support of a pastor and his wife in the Philippines and encouragement from friends, family and other fellow believers, Maiden’s Hope is intended to meet these needs. The plan is for Maiden’s Hope to provide a Christian home, education and to meet the day to day needs of a small group of teenage girls.

Although there are thousands upon thousands of teens in the city of Manila who need this type of program, we are planning to begin Maiden’s Hope with 10 girls in the program. With God’s blessing, we hope to have another program for 10 teenage boys as soon as possible. This may seem like a drop of water in the ocean but for these 10 young ladies, it will be life changing and as they grow in their faith and education, we feel certain God will use them to touch the lives of many others.

OUR MISSION

The Mission of Maiden’s Hope is to demonstrate the love of Christ to teenage girls in the Philippines who have not had the opportunity to attend school and do not yet know the Lord. The goal is to provide them with a Christian home and an education giving them hope for the future in this life and for eternity.
